Key Scripture Jude 20

But you, beloved, must remember the predictions of the apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ; for they said to you, In the last time there will be scoffers, indulging their own ungodly lusts.” It is these worldly people, devoid of the Spirit, who are causing divisions.

But you, beloved, build yourselves up on your most holy faith; pray in the Holy Spirit; keep yourselves in the love of God; look forward to the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ that leads to eternal life.

Jude 1:17-21

Jude after some warnings and then an Exhortation to strengthen themselves in the faith by prayer, godliness, and hope.

Hope is the key to seeing with the eyes of faith.

Paul said "our faith is like this we believe it and we speak it."

Faith is the language that hope speaks.

Jesus said when the smallest of faith is in a big and able God then it's enough to move mountains.

Only believe” Jesus would say to his followers

Faith is not denying the reality we face.

God has done it before and he will do it again.

But we are never to lose hope

When we don't know what to pray.  Hope keeps us in the right place.

Praying with faith is often the key to answered prayers

Prayer is more than just random shout out in vein.

Without faith no one can please God. Anyone who comes to God must believe that he is real and that he rewards those who truly want to find him.

Hebrews 11:6 NCV

Jesus said we prayer to whom we know, because we know him who saves.

James says The prayer of faith is the thing that saves the sick.

Jesus says in Matthew 6

““And when you pray, dont be like those people who dont know God.

They continue saying things that mean nothing, thinking that God will hear them because of their many words.

Dont be like them, because your Father knows the things you need before you ask him.

Matthew 6:7-8 NCV

If God knows already what we have need of then why do we need to pray, this seems a logical question.

But Jesus exalts them that It's not our many words but our belief.

When we ask God for anything we come from a position of faith or belief.

Through our faith in God we can ask him, once we have asked don't need to constantly ask, when we ask we then need to hold steady.

Jesus gives us this hope in answered prayers.

"So I tell you to believe that you have received the things you ask for in prayer, and God will give them to you.

Mark 11 24 NCV

If we have hope, then we have reason and then that reason will be a strength to us

The kind of hope that keep us calm and keeps us standing

When all is against hope we still have hope

Paul would say When we have done all to stand then we stand.

Therefore we stand because we have a reason for our hope.

The apostle Peter said be prepared to give a reason for you hope.

Always be ready to answer everyone who asks you to explain about the hope you have, but answer in a gentle way and with respect. Keep a clear conscience so that those who speak evil of your good life in Christ will be made ashamed.

1 Peter 3:15-16 NCV

We, by putting our hope in God and faith in Christ, don't let times of trouble steal away our peace.

As we have entered into a covenant relationship with Christ, we share in Christ's nature.   Christ is developing in us his strength, his life, his wisdom.

We know how to hold ourselves as everything that belongs to Christ belongs to us.

Remember that we are not alone many face the same struggles.

He gives strength to those who are tired and more power to those who are weak. (Isaiah 40:29 NCV)

The confession is one like Pauls who learned to be satisfied with much and with little. "I can do all things through Christ strength".

Until you have nothing and yet are satisfied you dont really know what it means to have contentment.

Paul challenging us through his words to Corinth to never give up

THEREFORE, SINCE we do hold and engage in this ministry by the mercy of God [granting us favour, benefits, opportunities, and especially salvation], we do not get discouraged (spiritless and despondent with fear)  or  become faint with weariness and exhaustion. (2 Corinthians 4:1 AMP)

Hope causes us to never give up, even when we feel like all hope is lost.

Paul to the church in Thessaloniki

But we do not want you to be uninformed, brothers and sisters, about those who have died, so that you may not grieve as others do who have no hope.
