Vision and Values
Sunday 1st March

Our Vision

  • We see God’s people, empowered by the Holy Spirit, taking the good news of Jesus to our city, our region and to the ends of the earth.

“The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he has anointed me to bring good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim release to the captives and recovery of sight to the blind, to let the oppressed go free, to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favour.”

Luke 4:18-19

Jesus said to them again, “Peace be with you. As the Father has sent me, so I send you.” When he had said this, he breathed on them and said to them, “Receive the Holy Spirit. If you forgive the sins of any, they are forgiven them; if you retain the sins of any, they are retained.”

John 20:21-23

Our Mission

  • To connect people to God’s Kingdom through a personal relationship with Christ Jesus, and to see them reach their full potential.

Our fellowship is with the father

We declare to you what we have seen and heard so that you also may have fellowship with us; and truly our fellowship is with the Father and with his Son Jesus Christ.

1 John 1:3

As Adopted children the Spirit of God is revealing the father God to us.

He destined us for adoption as his children through Jesus Christ, according to the good pleasure of his will.

Ephesians 1:5

Because you are children, God has sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts, crying, “Abba! Father!”

Galatians 4:6

Revelation what it means to be part of his kingdom here and now.

Can’t simple be about getting a ticket to heaven but what does God want for us now.

Purpose in life not just purpose in death and eternity

Core Values:

  • The good news. Salvation is through faith alone.

By his great mercy he has given us a new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, and into an inheritance that is imperishable, undefiled, and unfading, kept in heaven for you, who are being protected by the power of God through faith for a salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.

1 Peter 1:3-5

  • Right standing with God is not by our own efforts.

We know that a person is justified not by the works of the law but through faith in Jesus Christ. And we have come to believe in Christ Jesus, so that we might be justified by faith in Christ, and not by doing the works of the law, because no one will be justified by the works of the law.

Galatians 2:16

  • Christ is King and he is coming back for His own.

Brothers and sisters, about those who have died, so that you may not grieve as others do who have no hope. For since we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so, through Jesus, God will bring with him those who have died. For this we declare to you by the word of the Lord, that we who are alive, who are left until the coming of the Lord, will by no means precede those who have died. For the Lord himself, with a cry of command, with the archangel’s call and with the sound of God’s trumpet, will descend from heaven, and the dead in Christ will rise first. Then we who are alive, who are left, will be caught up in the clouds together with them to meet the Lord in the air; and so we will be with the Lord forever.

1 Thessalonians 4:13-17

  • The Holy Spirt helps us live the life of faith, hope and love through obedience to God’s Word.

Hold to the standard of sound teaching that you have heard from me, in the faith and love that are in Christ Jesus. Guard the good treasure entrusted to you, with the help of the Holy Spirit living in us.

2 Timothy 1:13-14

  • Gathering together in worship and celebration.

As we gather together let us approach with a true heart in full assurance of faith, with our hearts sprinkled clean from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water. Let us hold fast to the confession of our hope without wavering, for he who has promised is faithful. And let us consider how to provoke one another to love and good deeds, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day approaching.

Hebrews 10:22-25

  • Discipleship and encouragement through friendship

The grace of God that has been given you in Christ Jesus, for in every way you have been enriched in him, in speech and knowledge of every kind— just as the testimony of Christ has been strengthened among you— so that you are not lacking in any spiritual gift as you wait for the revealing of our Lord Jesus Christ. He will also strengthen you to the end, so that you may be blameless on the day of our Lord Jesus Christ. God is faithful; by him you were called into the fellowship of his Son, Jesus Christ our Lord. Now I appeal to you, brothers and sisters, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that all of you be in agreement and that there be no divisions among you, but that you be united in the same mind and the same purpose.

1 Corinthians 1:4-10

  • The great commission to go into all the world and preach the good news of Jesus Christ.

Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptising them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything that I have commanded you. And remember, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”

Matthew 28:18-20

The example of the first church was from Acts 2 was that they obeyed the commission of Christ.

So those who welcomed his message were baptised, and that day about three thousand persons were added. They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and fellowship, to the breaking of bread and the prayers. Awe came upon everyone, because many wonders and signs were being done by the apostles. All who believed were together and had all things in common; they would sell their possessions and goods and distribute the proceeds to all, as any had need. Day by day, as they spent much time together in the temple, they broke bread at home and ate their food with glad and generous hearts, praising God and having the goodwill of all the people. And day by day the Lord added to their number those who were being saved.

Acts 2:41-47

How can I become part of this vision?

People from all backgrounds connecting with Christ through the power of the Holy Spirit. Members of the church don’t sign the dotted line, but they know they belong and join with us in heart and mind.  Small groups meet during the week for fellowship and discipleship.  The idea of connecting, praying and discussing scripture with 2-3 people over the coffee table. With 6-8 people over the dinning table and with the whole church over the banquet table.

Becoming all that God has called us to be through connecting with Lighthouse. We believe that the Holy Spirit will equip us for every good work and people are being transformed by God’s word.

Being part of a team is one of the quickest ways to become part of the fellowship.  Prayer, both personal and corporate is key to our spiritual growth.

Taking initiative to be part of the church in helping others connect and as Jesus said in John 20:21 “Peace to you! As the Father has sent Me, I also send you.” Being a witness to the good news locally and to the nations.  Why not lead a small group, begin to disciple others, invite your friends and neighbours and allow God to use your gifts in his service.

 Purpose of Events or Groups

1 – A ‘no strings attached’ group for building friendships.   Example our Parent & Toddler group and Lunch clubs

2 – Invite friends who are seeking Christ for relevant message.  Example our parenting course.

3 – An opportunity to hear the Christian message.   Example Alpha Course.

4 – For those who have faith already and want to go deeper.  Example a Bible study.

5 Sunday morning services, opportunity to celebrate together hear Gods word for the church.
