  1. Joseph’s picture of the train in relation to our identity
  • Engine: God’s view of us is eternal, the identity He gives us as His child and will continue after we die; meant to drive us. What does the Bible say about your identity (righteous, forgiven, accepted, beloved, strong in the Lord)?
  • Carriage: the identities we pick up along the way but won’t go with us when we die.
  • Stations: drop off the irrelevant, the unnecessary, the burdens. Pick up things for your chalkboard. Ephesians 4:23.

we have the same priorities …

  • My Father’s business Luke 2:49. (His chalkboard title.)

  • His sub-headings from prophecies: 

Luke 4:18 – preach gospel to poor, heal broken-hearted, liberty to captives and oppressed, sight to blind, acceptable year of the Lord  

Isaiah 9:6-7 His Name shall be called Wonderful Counsellor, the Mighty God, the Everlasting Father, the Prince of Peace

  • Luke 19:10 to seek and save the lost.

(John 3:17 not to condemn but to save, 

not to judge but to save John 12:47).

His Name, Jesus, announced at birth.

  • John 10:10 abundant life.
  • Matthew 5: 17 not to abolish the law but to fulfil it.

  • John 12:46 as a Light into the world.
  • Luke 5:32 to call sinners to repentance.
  • 1 John 3:8 to destroy the works of the evil one.
